I believe that you don’t have to be wealthy to live like a wealthy person. This might sound like the opening line of a credit card advertisement or a Crown Royal commercial, but it’s not. I am merely making the argument that by using your money more intelligently, you can have nicer things and live better. Wealthy people aren’t swamped in debt, so you really couldn’t “live like a wealthy person” if you are, in fact, living beyond your means.
What This Site Is Not:
- This is not a budgeting site, and I will not help you spend less money. The objective we’re looking for is to get more out of your dollar. To be honest, this site might encourage you to spend more money, and I apologize in advance. That being said, we’re going to save enough money to make that possible.
- If you told your spouse that you were going online to read about managing your finances and accidentally stumbled upon this site, you need to about face and find someone who actually knows how to manage money. To reiterate the prior point, your spouse will be very upset if you follow all of my advice. Just ask my spouse.
- This site is not a purely altruistic website dedicated to helping you buy a better television. I will help you buy a better television, but my interest in putting this information online is that you will click through my affiliate link (perhaps the topic of a later post) when you buy that television. I am going to be straightforward with you, and I hope you’ll appreciate that. I spend an incessant amount of time researching products and technology (once again, ask my wife), and I am attempting to maximize the value of my time by sharing my findings. Malcom Gladwell might refer to my type as a “market maven” per se.
What This Site Is:
- Together, we’re going to find deals that help you buy nicer things for less money, but I’m no hedonist or materialist. To be honest, my philosophy is rather opposed to these beliefs. I simply believe that if you buy better stuff, you will spend less of your time troubleshooting it or replacing it. This results in better time and money management. To this extent, we’re buying nicer things because they have a better cost-benefit than shabbier goods. You’ll find this to be a very consistent theme here. Here we believe that possessions are a means to an end rather than an end in and of themselves.
- This site will steer you towards quality products so you can spend less time researching them ad nauseum on your own. If you choose to take my advice, please take the time to give me your feedback on the products at some later point (and buy through my links).
- Spending money wisely requires domain expertise, and I am here to share my perspective on areas that I know best. At times, we’ll bring in guest writers who can share from their experiences to help you in their domains of expertise. Where you feel that you have something to share, you are welcome to join in the dialog.
